Since joining the Financial Services Industry, John has gained a unique perspective on investment management through his extensive experience at both the retail and institutional levels. Having held positions with two of Canada’s major banks, John gained experience in bond and equity trading, Institutional Investment Management, New Issues (IPO’s), Day Trading, Mutual Fund Sales Practices, and Client Management. While at CIBC, John was awarded an Achiever’s Award. After leaving the bank, John was Vice President of a small securities brokerage, before deciding to concentrate on personal investment management. Since 2001, John has operated as an independent financial advisor, first with KingsGate Securities Inc. and then with Industrial Alliance Securities when KingsGate was sold to Industrial Alliance Securities. John sits on the President’s Advisory Committee for Industrial Alliance Securities. In 2009, John received the prestigious ‘President’s Award’ for being the #1 advisor for Industrial Alliance Securities across Canada, and joined other top advisors from within Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services at Conference 2009 Elite in Prague, Czech Republic.
John is active within his church, Chartwell Baptist, sitting on the Leadership team. John also is a member of the board of directors of Yonge Street Mission, and chairs the Audit & Finance Committee. John and his wife Keri live in Oakville and are delighted to have 13 year-old quadruplets- Kaitlyn, Melissa, Michael, and Kyle.

Lara Huska is a recent addition to the Wealth-By-Design Team. Lara handles all matters relating to client administration, account set up, transfers, operational tasks, and other day-to-day matters related to client activities. She is a client’s first point of contact.
Lara graduated from the Paralegal Program at Sheridan College in 2000 and pursued a career in the insurance industry, where she began as a co-op student. She maintained her interest in law by volunteering with the Victim Services of Peel. After meeting and travelling and working abroad with her husband for several years, they have returned to Canada and settled in Oakville near to family in Mississauga where Lara was raised.
Lara is happy to be home with family and friends, and also excited to return to a career in client services, working with the Wealth-By-Design Team.

NBCN (National Bank Correspondent Network 
In July 2010, Industrial Alliance Securities moved its back office operations to NBCN (National Bank Correspondent Network). Back office services include account maintenance, trade execution and settlement, account administration in addition to independent preparation and delivery of client account statements. There are four levels of correspondent services, of which Industrial Alliance Securities is a level 4, the highest level at which a firm can operate, prior to offering its own back office services. NBCN is the largest correspondent broker in Canada, and provides behind the scene operational, administerial and transactional support.
